Music

It's really surprising how much music can change a persons' perspective.

When you're sitting in silence, you have time to slow down and think of things, things maybe you'd rather not think about. But once a song you like starts to play, you start to tap your foot, or bob your head and you sing the lyrics. Breaking free of the shell of your thoughts and letting your creativity flow freely.

Have you ever noticed that your playlist can either play the perfect mixture of songs for your mood or the absolute worst mixture where you have to skip through a hundred songs before you find one you can tolerate?

I find that to be kind of interesting. Like music has it's own DNA, no matter what genre or artist it is, it can affect your mood so deeply.

Frustration

Frustration, that's the word of my past few months. I can't believe how hard it's been to find a job. I've been looking since the end of August!

California now is going to raise the University costs by like over 50%! The state is making it so it's impossible to go to school to get an education, which means that no employers will hire you because you don't have a stupid piece of paper that says you know what you're doing.

I'm sure 1/3 of us out there looking for jobs right now are totally able to do certain jobs even though we don't have certification saying we've completed so and so hours of education.

I went to a certified school, I put in my time to learn my trade and got over $10,000 worth of loans for it. But can I find a job in that specialty? NO. And what makes it much worse it that I can't even get a job at a place that DOESN'T require past education or degrees.

It is unbelievable how screwed up the state of California has become. Was it just me or back in our childhood things seemed a little bit more simple? Maybe it could have been the innocence of being a child but I know that California has gotten a million times worse then when I was a kid.

I am lucky to have a family who supports me and my search for employment and who doesn't judge or bring me down. People like my family and friends are how everyone should be. But everyone here[California] is so greedy, power hungry and evil that there is no way this state is every going to recover. Not in our lifetime anyway.

I recently read an article about Bill Nye, you guys know him, the science guy. He was giving a lecture at a University and he fell or collapsed. It was stated that not one student got up to help the man, they all just flipped out their phones to update their social network statuses. The article showed a entire play-by-play second by second. That shows how f'ed up people are these days.

Don't get me wrong, I know that there are good and great people in California but they are few and far between. I just wish that someone in power could actually be a decent human being and not a money hungry power sucking demon.

September 11th

Today is the day that will never be forgotten in all the history of the United States of America.

The day of mourning, sadness, fear, anger. The day we came together united, hoping that this was all just bad dream.

Throughout your day today, take a couple minutes to remember all who were lost and to say a silent prayer for their families.

The people that passed on 9/11/2001 will always be in our thoughts and in our hearts.

And to the brave heroes; Firefighters, Policemen, strangers on the street, and workers in the building, we thank you, honor you and salute you as true American Heroes.

I'm neither for nor against the proposed mosque that might be built 2 blocks from ground zero in New York City.

I saw on the news this afternoon, a Reverend, holding the Holy Bible, shouting hateful things against Muslims and the Islamic people. Using a Holy Bible to promote hate and basically racism is something that totally shocks and disgusts me. I understand that emotions are high and the horrible things that happened on September 11th will never be forgotten, but it is not like the mosque is on ground zero or even within the block.

The mosque is for AMERICAN Muslims, American, one of us, people who love this country like we do. Who come here for safety and better opportunities, instead of the hate and death in their home country. The people that will go there are going there to practice their religion and to find solace and peace in this chaotic place that we call Earth.

Being against the mosque being built is like telling those people to not practice their religion.

How would you like it if someone came up to you and said that you can not go to your church, you can not go and pray to your God, you can not find the comfort inside those doors? How much does it take for people to actually open up their eyes and see how much hate is being spewed. From a man 'of god' even.

People of middle eastern descent are already stereotyped and hated for just being born in a country that they had no choice of being born in. How much racism does it take for people to see that denying people their faith is an act against God himself?

Racism is ugly, hateful and ultimately evil. Look inside yourself, can you see any of those traits in your heart? Just because someone is different does not mean that they are wrong. Middle Eastern people did not all get together and decide to attack New York City. It was a group of hateful men, driven by power and hate. Can you see any similarities with what's happening now?

I am in no way condoning what has happened throughout our history but I want each and every one of you reading this to actually take a moment to think about how much hate is in this 'land of the free, and home of the brave.'

Our land of the free, is telling people no, pushing them down, saying you can not be yourself.
Home of the brave, being hateful and hiding behind your own faith is not brave.

Blah Blah Blah

No, not the song, well, now it's stuck in my head.....

Anyways, I know I haven't written anything in awhile, not like many people read this. It's more of an outlet.

So, enough of my babbling. I've been going through quite a lot of things these past few weeks. I've realized growing up isn't as easy as it seems.

I'm only 19, soon to be 20, well in 6 months and a week or so, but I'm still growing up.

Kids right now can't wait to get older and be legal to do all that horrible stuff that they think is so cool, like drinking and smoking. Well all I have to say to you is don't run, walk as slow as you can to adulthood. Every kid needs a childhood that they can look back on with fond memories. I have those, but I also had to grow up way too fast.

Now that I'm close to finishing school and starting my career, a lot of things are setting in. That once I'm done with school I will be working until I retire, I'll have bills to pay, etc. It seems exciting yet horrifying at the same time.

I really don't know what the future holds for me, which I think freaks me out the most about growing up. It's like my whole life I knew my future, wake up, go to school, come home, etc., but since I won't need to go to school anymore I don't know what'll come next. Will I like my new job? Will I even get a new job? It's all pretty crazy.

The constants I know will be there for me are my Family, Justin, and my Friends, all of whom I am so thankful for.

I think that's all I have to blog about today my readers. See you all on the flip side.

Oooh, one more thing:
Movie for you to see this week: The Runaways
Music for you to listen to this week: City and Colour

Today

A lot of things happen in daily life that I feel we take for granted. Like the sun shining on your face, or seeing a smiling child with their parents. Now-a-days it's so hard growing up in this world. There is pressure coming at you from every direction.
Some kids are lucky enough, like I was, to have understanding and supportive parents. But a lot of people I know didn't have that.

Girls in this world, at this very moment, are having body issues, mental issues, inadequacy issues. I remember when I was in high school and seeing all of these stick thin models, and how every guy fell over himself for her. I thought that was normal and I was some freak that didn't fit the mold. But that was just some over exaggerated sense of misplacement.

TV and movies can make you feel out of place, ugly, imperfect even. I hate that something that isn't even real can do that to a beautiful young woman. I know now that when I was younger I was perfect in my own way, and I still am, even though my insecurities are very much still around.

I don't know why being a size -0 is so attractive, seeing a woman that is just bones and skin makes me feel sick inside. This world needs a serious reality check if that's how they think people should look.

The World Today

So the title says it all, what do you think about when you think of how our world is now?
Compare it to 10, 20, even 100 years ago and it's done a total 180. The people, the economy, everything!

It sickens me how much human beings can ruin things. We can't get along with each other, but we have to coexist. Even friends now-a-days aren't even friends. You think you can trust them but you can't. Everything has just grown to be so shady. It's disgusting.

Where is Robin Hood when you need him? Steal from the rich and give to the poor.
Do you hear that Mr. Gates, or Ms. Hilton? All those people have so much money, but what are stars trying to do? Evade taxes, because they're so much better than everyone else they can't get their money taxed like us little people? It's so maddening.

Money makes me sick, Politics make me sick, ugh.

I feel bad for the children growing up in this right now, they'll be even more cynical than I am. Life used to seem so much more simple back in the 90s, even though I was a child, I know it wasn't as bad as it is now.

Just to live in an apartment and pay bills you have to be paid like 20 dollars and hour, and that's just 1 person, think about families with multiple children.

Oh, and don't get me started on multiple children, Ms. OctoMom. How ridiculous is that?! 14 or 16 children or whatever, are you F'in CRAZY?! And then all the help she's getting? Welfare or whatnot? Comes from our pockets! People that try to ride on the coattails of other are truly sad and dispicable people.

The title of this blog is rants and raves, and I kind of jumbled all of them in together today, I've had all of that on my mind for a little while and needed to let all of you out there know what I think.
